Youth Minister

Josh Smith

I was very fortunate to grow up in a Christian home with a Mom and Dad who loved me, taught me about Jesus and kept actively involved in church.  I gave my life to the Lord at the age of 8 yrs. old.  That faith really began to take root in my life when I got involved in Seminole First Baptist Church's youth group.  I had a group of older guys take me under their wings and really and showed me what it was really like to be a follower of  Jesus.  Also, during that time I saw the importance of spending time with God in His Word and in prayer.  Upon Graduation from Seminole High school in 2005 I attended Seminole State College and then graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2009.

While in college, God used the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, the BCM directors and other Christian students to really challenge me and push me to grow in my walk with Christ.  On Christmas break of my junior year I had the privilege to serve on a mission trip in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  While on that trip I felt God calling me to serve in full time ministry.  Near graduation, I begin serving as youth minister at First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  We served there over four years until God called us to FBC Antlers.

While in college at Oklahoma State University I met my beautiful wife who was then, Stephanie McGhee and we got married July 11, 2009. On May 8th. 2012, God blessed us with an amazing son, Dempsey Paul James.  God has been so gracious to our family and has blessed us so much.  We pray He uses us to make disciples of all nations starting here with the youth of Pushmataha County.
